mygreenpatch is about improving how we live, one step at a time.

The business was established to encourage Australians to grow their own produce. Whether you live in an apartment or on 30 acres, mygreenpatch will help you kick-start your growing efforts. We provide you with the necessary kit, tools and know-how to help you grow tasty, fresh and seasonal produce at your own home, so you can pick it right when you need it.

Born out of a desire to see Australians not only understand the food chain, but participate in being a link in the chain, mygreenpatch is a concept for now and the future. As climate change grips our planet and we look for ways to live in a society using carbon as currency, the politics of food becomes more complex and resources continue to diminish. You can take back some control over your own and your family’s life by growing your own produce.

mygreenpatch delivers produce, herb and kid’s patches right to your front door. Everything you need to build your patch and get growing is included in these kits: timber, soil, seedlings, tools and instructions. There is also online help for those that – like the founder of the business – are not naturally green-fingered.

The core values of mygreenpatch include: care for the environment through sustainable and, where possible, organic growing practices; minimising our carbon footprint; and a greater awareness of what it takes to grow, produce and transport food for consumption.

mygreenpatch is owned and managed by Harvey Baker-Dowdell from the NSW Central Coast. Harvey spent much of his childhood and early adult years living in houses and apartments with little room for a garden and didn’t think too much about what he ate.

Since living on the Central Coast and having space for his own veggie patch, Harvey has become passionate about growing his own produce and is constantly converting more of the back yard into patches. This passion for growing his own produce, and eating better as a result, has developed since Harvey became a father in 2006 and he loves sharing his garden with his children. To complete the picture (which is somewhat similar to BBC’s The Good Life), Harvey shares his garden with his wife, son and soon-to-arrive second child, two cats, six chickens, two rabbits and lots of fish.

Thank you for visiting mygreenpatch. We hope you enjoy the fruits of your labour.
